Situated on Great Island in Cork Harbour, Cobh was once known as Queenstown before reverting to is its old name (Cobh – The Cove of Cork) in 1922. Up until the 1950s, Cobh was an embarkation point for the worlds great trans-Atlantic liners and is today still a port of call for many cruise ships. During the famine years of 1844-48 Cobh was the last sight of Ireland for hundreds of thousands of penniless men and women, as they left to find a better life in America. There is a memorial to the victims of the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915 and Cobh was the last port of call for the Titanic on her fateful maiden voyage in 1912. Today, the brightly painted houses and shops around the harbour, present a much happier image of this very pretty waterside town. This is a 500XL piece jigsaw which is perfect for beginners, those with dementia, handling or sight difficulties. Cobh Harbour is also available as a 1000 pce jigsaw.
